Articulo 19/La Union Newspaper - The Shooting Print&OOH

IDEA
As part of the broader initiative “The Shooting” by Artículo 19—launched with a powerful short film created by Grey México and Oriental Films—a new print campaign is now being unveiled to raise awareness about the constant threats and violence journalists face in Mexico.

This second phase of the campaign, aims to ignite public demand and institutional accountability to protect freedom of expression—now in a deeply fragile state.

Journalists in Mexico live and work as if in a war zone. That’s incredibly striking, especially considering we’re not officially at war. We wanted to reflect that terrifying reality in every execution.

Articulo 19/La Union Newspaper - The Shooting

SITUATION
In Mexico, journalism can cost you your life. Since 2000, more than 200 journalists have been murdered or disappeared for doing their jobs. With a journalist targeted every 14 hours, Article 19 and Diario La Union recognized the urgent need to turn apathy into outrage and make visible what is often buried: the impunity behind every headline.

IDEA
The campaign includes a four-minute short film, outdoor and print pieces that metaphorically depict the violence journalists face in the country. The Shooting exposes the inequality of this battle and the brutality of the attacks against the press.
